I am so blessed to be a missionary! I am so
grateful for the decision I made to serve to the Lord! Everything is going fine
with our investigators but it is getting harder to visit with them. Yesterday
we went on splits. I went Enso, a future missionary of our ward. Elder Bayles
went with another future missionary named Matias. They went and taught one of
our investigators who has a baptism date already set. Enso and I went to go
find new investigators. We were blessed to come in contact with a lady who wants
to learn more about our message. Sweet :) And then we found another new
investigator. She wants to find happiness, and we promised her she will find it
through the gospel of Jesus Christ. We will meet with her tomorrow. I am making
it a goal to take the future missionaries in our ward on splits. The youth in
this ward are so prepared, they don’t even need the MTC, haha!
So, this last Preparation-Day we all went to Cerro de la Gloria as
a district! It was so great and pretty! But super hot, haha!
And we all went and got some fresh smoothies :) Mmmmm :) It was
one of the best P-days I have had so far! Today (P-day) we are heading to the Zoo,
so that should be fun!
This week has been a great
week of work :)! I am really starting to
understand how to effectively work with our ward. We are making it a goal to
take members and future missionaries out to work with us. We feel like it will
help the members to be involved and help them become a missionary in their own
way :). This way, we help to keep them all active and help re-activate other
members! Since our area is huge, we have planned to send out members and ward
missionaries to the houses of our investigators during the week while we are
working in other parts of our area. Our members will be checking up on them to
see if everything is well, and they will also be sharing spiritual thoughts and
invite them to activities. We feel like this way we keep our investigators and
members involved. We are seeing many miracles every day in this
area.
We were supposed to have a
baptism scheduled this week of one of our investigators, but he has been gone
in a different are. So, we our passing him on to the missionaries in his area.
He is ready and we hope that he will continue with this amazing covenant.
Our next baptism of another
investigator is scheduled for Feb 7th. She turns 12 on Feb. 3rd and is
incredible. We showed her the Mormon messages videos and it turns out she has been
sharing videos and talks, as well as music and photos of the church with her
dad and mom, and friends :). She told us she really wants to be a missionary so
she can be able to help people as we do. I hope she knows that she already is a
missionary and is already helping other people. We are planning a wonderful
musical number for her baptism. It is a mix of "As sisters in Zion"
and "Army of Helaman" it will be in English and Spanish :) And I get
to play the guitar! Whoo hoo!
Oh, President Goates is trying an experiment with
district. He is having us take an hour nap during siesta time, and wants us to
work until 10:30 PM. Before this experiment we were supposed to be in bed by 10:30
pm. But now we go to sleep at 11:30 pm. I think it is great idea! If he sees
positive results, he will apply to the whole mission! There are soooo many more
people out and about after 9pm! And noooobodyy is out during siesta! So, I see huge
benefits coming from this change! We make up for the extra hour of sleep during
siesta. Mendoza is actually the
only mission in the world that is conducting this pilot project! So I feel special to be one the first
missionaries to try this out :).
We have big plans for
Unimev, and have always hoped to be able to bring about a change to this area.
This area has not been to well for these last six years. We will be working
super-hard and bring the Spirit of the Lord to the people of Unimev.
Thank you for all that you
do for me. I love that I have a family and friends that support me. Thank you!
I pray that you all of you will be doing well. Love you all!
This is a Peruvian dish that Elder Delgado and I
made together while we went on exchanges! So good!
